Video Depositions
Video depositions are an invaluable legal tool when a foreign witness is not available to attend trial in the United States. Recording testimony in this manner preserves the record for both current and future litigation needs, and is becoming more and more common as international litigation cases continue to increase.
Our depositions, interviews, and plant inspection videos are conducted by a Legal Video Specialist following the US Government's Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. The screen image is stamped in real time for integrity (date/time - hour/minute/second).
Besides the necessary technical knowledge, all of our personnel are familiar with the legal and security protocols for US embassies, consulates, military bases and how they apply to fulfilling a given assignment. Knowledge of the laws of a host nation are also a major consideration, as many countries do not allow depositions to be conducted on their territory.
LVA records digitally (directly to DVD and Digital tape), providing redundancy that exceeds the requirements of both the AGCV and the NCRA. A full set of Mpeg 2 DVD’s and a backup digital tape master and documentation are included in any recording we undertake. For trial presentation, a set of synched Mpeg1 with the reporters transcript is included in our fee structure.
Equipment
Our videographers employ digital, broadcast quality 3-CCD cameras to deliver a superior image for post-production and multimedia applications. We record our masters directly from camera to DVD, and back-up utilizing digital tape on Sony DVCAM equipment.
In addition to the above state-of-the-art technology we deploy:
• individual lavalier microphones for the witness, interpreters, and both attorneys
• professional microphone mixers
• professional Pioneer DVD recorders
• date/time digital imprint on all recordings
• neutral backdrop
• lighting and reflectors where necessary
Editing / Duplication
LVA edits the footage we shoot and can include other relevant media – still images, audio files, and pre-existing video – to meet the needs of our clients. We utilize digital editing solutions to ensure the highest quality without any loss from the original.
We can duplicate shoot media from our digital masters in the format of your choice, including conversion to any other media format for courtroom display or embedding in trial presentation software.
Court Reporting
Our reporters are all Real Time capable and certified by the NCRA. As such, they know the rules and have years of experience in their area of speciality.
When conducting real time depositions, we realize back-ups are not only important, but critical. Our reporters know their equipment and can set up as many terminals as are needed for both sides. We don’t ask our reporters to handle the logistics as some firms do.
Our offices have built up relationships over decades throughout the Asia-Pacific region, and know how to get things done. We handle the logistics. That way, the reporters can focus on the job at hand: getting the record with accuracy and proficiency.
Because of our extensive experience in this business, we can find and assign the right reporter for the right job. We know that doing anything less is risky and can have a negative impact on the outcome of a case.
Interpretation
Multi-lingual deposition work requires interpreters possessing the highest level of skills, knowledge, and cultural understanding. That is why LVA has maintained a long-standing relationship with Lise & Partners -- the leading firm of its kind.
